What moves the price on this route
- Building access at origin. This is the defining cost factor on this corridor. Walk-ups, freight elevator reservations, certificates of insurance demanded by co-op and condo boards, and no truck parking are all normal in New York and all add cost. A destination house in Florida with a driveway does not offset an origin walk-up.
- Seasonal direction. Southbound demand peaks ahead of winter, and the corridor is dominated by outbound New York moves, so return capacity is cheap and outbound is not.
- Elevator and long carry fees apply at both ends and the destination is often never surveyed. Ask about both.
- Florida destination density. Gated communities, HOA delivery windows and high-rise condos in coastal metros can require a shuttle even when the origin did not.
The certificate of insurance problem
Many New York buildings will not let a moving crew in without a certificate of insurance naming the building, issued in advance and to their exact wording. It is free from a legitimate carrier and impossible from an unlicensed one. Ask for it early: discovering on moving day that your mover cannot produce one is how moves get cancelled at the door.

Before you compare on price
The cheapest quote on this route is not the win it looks like. A number below the market floor is the classic opening of a lowball that rises on delivery day. Run every company through the six verification checks before you compare totals, and make sure you know whether your estimate is binding, non-binding or binding not-to-exceed.
