How to read the result

The bar shows the full range we observe. The solid dark section is where most quotes land. The orange mark is your number.

• Below the range. Treat this as a warning rather than a win. A quote under the market floor is the classic opening of a lowball that rises on delivery day.
• Low end. Inside the range but under the middle. Confirm the estimate type and what valuation coverage is included.
• Where most quotes land. Normal for this size of move.
• High end. Still within range. Long carries, stairs, shuttle access, storage or peak season all explain it legitimately.
• Above the range. Ask for an itemised estimate and get two more quotes.

What this tool does not do

It compares a number against a national range for an interstate move. It does not know your route, your access at either end, your inventory weight or your dates. A quote at the top of the range can be entirely correct for a hard move.

It also cannot tell you whether the company is legitimate, which matters more than the price. That is what the verification checks are for.

Before you compare

Check that your quote and our range describe the same job. Ours cover transport, loading, unloading, basic released valuation and fuel surcharge, before packing services, storage, specialty items and deposits. If your estimate includes full packing, subtract it before comparing.
